The University and Community Liaison Committee met in February.
The Committee is made up of the following members:

University Proctor                                                Director of Corporate Communications
Community Liaison Manager                              Residential Support Manager
Proctor’s Secretary                                               Students’ Union President
Students’ Union General Manager                    Representatives of Local Resident Associations

The Committee agenda included input from a resident of Homedee House, a retirement apartment complex on Canal Street, and Garden Lane, an update from the Proctor’s Office and reports from both the Residential Support Manager and the Community Liaison Manager.
Student Community Engagement
In February the University of Chester held its first Contact the Elderly Tea Party.
Contact the Elderly is a national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst older people, through regular face-to-face contact.  You can read more about the charity here http://www.contact-the-elderly.org.uk/
We welcomed local guests for a tea party of cucumber sandwiches, scones, brownies and even trifle with lashings of tea and coffee.  The party was held at  our accommodation on the Fountains Roundabout, Sumner House.
Student volunteers chatted with the guests for two hours and the feedback from both party guests and volunteers was very positive.  We are looking forward to our next Contact the Elderly Tea Party.
