Sport sessions for the local community at the University of Chester

The University of Chester will be offering six weeks of Walking Football  and Netball sessions to the Cheshire community this summer.

About Walking Football from the Cheshire FA.

Walking Football is a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s/
It was initially designed to help get over 50's back into football and increase physical activity through rekindling players' love for the game again.
The rules are adapted so there is no running, very little contact and kick ins instead of throw ins. With less stress on the body and no real sudden change of direction or cutting movements the game allows participants to play without apprehension and at their own pace.
Playing the game at walking pace is a fantastic way to keep fit, reduce chances of injury and falls and also is a great way to meet new people.
Anyone is welcome to attend so dust off your football kit and give it a go!

About Walking Netball from England Netball

Walking Netball has evolved from a growing demand for walking sports. Often, one of netball’s strengths is that people never forget playing the sport and the memories as well as the love for the game never leave.

Walking Netball is a slower version of the game; it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level.

From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, it really is for everyone.

Women the length of the country have begun playing the game of Walking Netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie the social session brings, as much as the health benefits on offer. It can give those who feel isolated an outlet, provide an activity for those who don’t deem themselves fit enough to run anymore and offer a stepping stone for those looking for a pathway back into netball.
