February 2017

We can't believe it's February!

Welly Wednesdays

Our Volunteer Co-ordinator runs Welly Wednesdays helping students get outdoors in the community and taking part in environmental projects.  The most recent Welly Wednesday involved students helping to dig over ground with members of the Dig in the Quarter team who are preparing a wildflower meadow on Orchard Street in the Garden Quarter.  If you have an outdoor environmental project that you think could benefit from a Welly Wednesday please email

Work Based Learning

Most of our second year undergraduate students undertake the Work Based Learning module which involves spending 5 weeks (May-June) working for an organisation.  In addition to the project outcomes or work tasks completed during the placement, each student will produce a reflective report that focuses on their skills development.
Could your organisation benefit from a five week unpaid placement?  Would you like to get involved with a scheme that helps nurture the next generation of employees?
You can find full information on our website at or give the team a call on 01244 512100.
